No this was not a refurbished computer. It was purchased brand new at Office Depot. Don't all HP laptops come with Windows pre-installed? I am afraid if I do a recovery, they activation key won't work - then I will be stuck with no Windows at all. At least now my computer works fine. I just was wondering why the notice was down in the corner. I have no idea how to tell whether the 'laptop's recovery media is pre-activated by the computer's BIOS.' What is 'Enterprise' any way? What does it do? Thanks
If you bought the computer from Office Depot, it should not have come preinstalled with Windows 7 Enterprise edition. Enterprise edition is only available to volume license customers who deploy Windows 7 in bulk at large companies or universities. You are an end user, so your laptop likely came with a consumer oriented edition such as Home Premium or Professional.
Download the corresponding edition of Windows 7 you have a license for from the following link. You can identify the edition on COA sticker attached to your machine, with at bottom or battery compartment (laptop) or top/side if its a desktop computer.
